One Day

One day, one day, one of us will have lost the other.

Take all the truth from this pretending, mix it with a wedding vow,
You get a lie that’s never ending. We’ll be holier-than-thou
One day, one day.
The Church of Love is a holy place to be.
We keep it warm. We burn the Bodhi Tree.

One day, one day, one of us will have lost the other.

You want a pet to play with you. I want to sail a vaster sea.
I lie to you to stay with you. You lie to me to master me
One day, one day.
Afraid you’d die before you came home to me,
I saved your voice on the answering machine.

One day, one day, one of us will have lost the other.

My mother said, "The children are grown. We both are sick. Let us die together"
My father replied, "No, no, you will be well." He lied.
"Of course, I want you in the world, whether I’m in it or not.
"Or maybe it’s your spirit I probably mean. But in the end,

"One day, one day, one of us will have lost the other."

This has been talked about but lightly when we both get in the mood.
But litter makes the room unsightly. Think we’ll both pick up and move
One day, one day.
The moving van is parked out by the curb.
On our door there’s a sign that says "do not disturb."

One day, one day, one of us will have lost the other. One day, one day.

Success = boredom
