The Path Of Blame

Before you took the path of blame, there was Judas, there was Cain,
Walkin' through the drivin' rain, driven by shame
To a heaven only claimed by those who walk the Path of Blame.

Nearly all the human race craves to be acceptable.
A mask replaced their human face with all that is respectable.

You took the burden in your arms, then shouldered it with sunny grace,
Then stepped into the way of harm, and there received the dark embrace.

Before you took the path of blame, there was Judas, there was Cain,
Walkin' through the drivin' rain, driven by shame
To a heaven only claimed by those who walk the Path of Blame.

Those of us who do this work are in the world, not of it.
Our destiny, we will not shirk.
Our load, we learn to love it.

High atop the mountaintop, we may feel forsaken.
But to make the suffering stop, we must first awaken.

Before you took the path of blame, there was Judas, there was Cain,
Walkin' through the drivin' rain, driven by shame
To a heaven only claimed by those who walk the Path of Blame.
